DELAND, Fla. — The City of DeLand has extended the deadline for nominations for their Volunteer of the Year Award for 2022 because of Hurricane Ian.

The annual award honors any volunteer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in service of the greater DeLand area.
Nominations can be submitted online or mailed to DeLand City Hall between now and Oct. 13.

In order to be eligible for the award, nominees must have been engaged in volunteer activities for a minimum of one year in the greater DeLand area, not have received compensation for their service, or have been an award recipient from the past year.
Honorees will have their names memorialized on a plaque located at the corner of Woodland Boulevard and New York Avenue in Downtown DeLand.
