SANFORD, Fla. — The Central Florida Zoo in Sanford will reopen to the public on Wednesday. But when you return, there are changes in policy to know before you go.
Zoo passholders were the first test the zoo’s new safety protocols Monday.
For the first time in about two months, the zoo saw people like Letty Garcia and her family enter the gates.

“It’s awesome,” Garcia said. “We were really a little claustrophobic at home. it’s just awesome that they are open now. Just taking a lot of precautions.”
Passholders will be welcomed back again on Tuesday before the zoo opens to the public Wednesday.
The zoo is asking people to buy their tickets online because they are time ticketing. Occupancy will only be at 50% and they have reduced the zoo’s hours in order to deep clean the park.
When inside, visitors will be restricted to one-way paths.
The splash pad, playground and all indoor areas are closed to the public.
Visitors can not feed the giraffes or other animals like before, and additional barriers have been installed to ensure extra distance from the animals.
