Central Florida residents ready to hop into Easter celebrations this weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — Christians all over the world and in Central Florida will celebrate the Easter holiday this weekend.

One local Catholic gathering will be held Saturday night with the Easter Vigil Service of Light.

The service will start at 8:00 p.m. at the St. James Cathedral in downtown Orlando.

The Diocese of Orlando will also use the Easter weekend to welcome nearly 600 new Catholics into the church.

In other parts of central Florida cities are getting ready for some family fun Easter celebrations.

The annual “Egg-citing egg hunt” is scheduled for Central Winds Park in Winter Springs on Saturday morning.

Families in Winter Park can visit with the Easter bunny and enjoy other activities at various parks starting Saturday morning.

Kids can also dive for their eggs in Brevard County during a “watery” egg hunt starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the McLarty Park aquatic center.
