ORLANDO, Fla. — A cold Christmas is unfolding this year in Central Florida, but not a white one.

Still, we wanted to take a look at some of the very rare instances of snow in Central Florida.
Yes, it can happen, but not very often.

- January 1977 — Not only was snow reported in Orlando, but it also fell as far south as Miami and Homestead, setting a record as the farthest south report of snow in Florida history.
- December 1989 — A winter storm hit Florida. A total of 3 inches of snow fell in the Panhandle, and northeast Florida had the first white Christmas in reported history. Falling snow was reported as far south as a line between Sarasota and Melbourne.
- March 1993 — the notorious “Storm of the Century”, strong enough to pull frigid air into Florida, in March! Snow fell in parts of Florida, including 3 inches in some parts of northern Florida.
- January 2008 — Snow was reported in Daytona Beach.
- January 2010 — A trace of snowfall was recorded in Orlando.
