Central Florida firefighters use specialized equipment to rescue victim trapped under golf cart

OCALA, Fla. — Firefighters in Ocala rescued a person trapped after their golf cart overturned on Saturday afternoon.

Ocala Fire Rescue responded to the south side of SW Tenth Street after a golf cart flipped on its side with one person trapped underneath.

Marion County Fire Rescue was also at the scene providing patient care while OFR worked to remove the golf cart.

According to a news release, firefighters used rescue ropes with specialized knots for secure weight distribution to stabilize the golf cart.

Meanwhile, crews used a “high-lift jack to lift the front of the golf cart to free the patient and cutters to remove the steering wheel and column to facilitate extrication.”

The patient was safely extricated and was transported to the hospital.

Officials have not released the condition of the victim and no other injuries were reported.

The Ocala Police Department also responded to assist in the rescue.
