ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida doubled the number of its typical daily COVID-19 deaths on Thursday with 120 new deaths reported.
Since the beginning of July, the highest number of deaths Florida had reported was in the 60s. But with Thursday’s triple-digit increase, the state topped 4,000 deaths.
Most Central Florida counties have averaged zero to two new deaths a day.
But on Thursday, Orange and Brevard counties both reported six new deaths, and Volusia and Polk counties each reported five.
Seminole, Lake and Osceola all reported one new death.
That’s 25 deaths in Central Florida alone.
