Cat café opens in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — There is a new puuuurfect place cat or just animal lovers can visit in Volusia County.

LoCATioncatAutomat opened a cat café at The Pavilion at Port Orange with a huge "Meow" sign in the window.

Colleen Macy told Channel 9 Eyewitness News that she came up with the idea after visiting other cat cafes in Central Florida and knew that Volusia County was missing out.

The cats are from the Volusia County Humane Society and are available for adoption at the cat café. The café has the same adoption fees as the Humane Society.

Visitors pay $5.00, receive a wristband and can hang with the felines for 60 minutes all while enjoying a delicious treat.

“It costs less than a movie. Your kids can come, have fun and you don’t have to leave with a cat,” Macy said.

The café can hold up to 20 cats and they can play with toys, hang out in hammocks, cat shelves and balance beams.

The café's website also lists the kittens available for adoption, along with a name and description.

Macy said the café allows cats to be themselves, show off their personalities and not be stuck in a cage.

“I rather give them a chance at a furrrrever home,” Macy said.
