Car catches fire after crashing on I-4, driver and passenger killed, FHP says

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Update:

The roadblock in the area was cleared as of 7:53 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a deadly single-car crash in Kissimmee on Interstate 4.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-4 near the U.S. Highway 192 exit.

Troopers said initial evidence shows the driver of a BMW M5, for an unknown reason, lost control and drove off the roadway onto the shoulder.

The BMW crashed into a light pole and caught fire.

The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The outside westbound lane of I-4 and the exit ramp to U.S. Highway 192 are both blocked for investigation.
