Calls for change happening throughout Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Calls for change following the death of George Floyd are happening all over Volusia County.

“The only way to change is if we are unified,” said Zeffy Emerson, an organizer. “We have to be unified as one. I want people to see past color. I want people to see what a human really is down to their soul.”

A mixed group of all ages and races were in front of Deltona City Hall carrying signs saying “Black Lives Matter” and calling for equality as they sang, prayed and talked about their experiences.

“I just want to enact change. It always starts somewhere,” Emerson said.

There were three other protests in DeLand, Daytona and Port Orange.

All protests were peaceful, with no arrests or property damage.
