First comes the Furry Fall Festival on Wednesday, followed by Barktoberfest on Sunday.

The Furry Fall Festival will run from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Orange County Animal Services, located near the Mall at Millenia. Organizers said the event started five years ago to celebrate the life of former Animal Services Officer Joey Campo, who passed away in 2017.

During the event, the shelter will waive adoption fees for all available pets. There will also be food trucks, music, and Halloween-themed entertainment.

“Furry Fall Festival is a staff favorite event, with many of us dressing up and taking an opportunity to enjoy the Halloween holiday and time with one another,” Summers said. “Last year’s event resulted in 34 pets finding new homes so we’re hoping to best that.”

The 10th annual Barktoberfest is next in the lineup, running from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Lake Eola.

“It has been such a blessing to watch Barktoberfest grow year after year,” Summers said. “This is our chance to illuminate the relationship between Animal Services and the rescue community, and to drive the message home that lifesaving is accomplished as a team effort, with these rescue groups needing adopters, foster homes and donations to continue to thrive.”
