ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline is sharing new details on the progress toward opening a new train service between Orlando and Miami.

Channel 9 was invited out to Brightline’s train station just south of Orlando International Airport’s Terminal C to see what’s left to check off the list before trains can finally run between Miami and Orlando.
The locomotive for Bright Orange 2 is the fifth and final train ordered for Brightline’s Orlando extension.
However, the train is now in the commissioning process where crews are checking everything.

Crews are making sure it is ready to run, testing the breaks, and gassing it up.
The trains hold 2,200 gallons of fuel and that fueling process happens just outside the vehicle maintenance facility.
Some of the trains ordered for the Orlando extension already went through the commissioning process.

More than 175 workers will service trains.
Brightline officials said it is targeting the second quarter of this year to start service.
However, there’s a lot that has to happen before then.

As Brightline prepares the high-speed testing in Central Florida, the company is reminding people to stay focused and stay off the tracks.
The company is meeting with law enforcement agencies and school districts to get its safety message across.
