“It’s interesting. Didn’t think I’d be an engineer ever,” said Brightline facility engineer Davonne Durant.
Durant has been working with Brightline since October at its Basecamp facility after completing a rigorous program at Valencia College.
Brightline teamed up with Valencia College to create a pipeline through the college’s 22-week long Industrial Automation Technician program.
“65 to 70% of our Industrial Automation Technician program is hands on,” said Tiffany Barnes with Valencia College. “And we’re really going over the safety standards and providing that foundation for our students.”

Before service starts, Brightline is looking to fill 175 jobs across Central Florida including technical roles that will work directly on Brightline’s fleet of trains and out on the tracks.
