Brightline to begin high-speed testing in Orange, Brevard counties

ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline will start high-speed testing in Orange and Brevard Counties this week.

The transportation company will test its trains at 125 miles per hour for the first time along the 35-mile rail corridor that runs along the Beachline Expressway/State Road 528.

The testing will be between the Orlando International Airport and Cocoa.

Brightline officials said drivers would not be affected since there are no public grade crossings.

Testing will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day in the spring.

An intercity passenger rail will soon connect Central Florida and South Florida.

Brightline officials said it is targeting the second quarter of this year to start service.
