Bright House 911 service restored in central Florida

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Bright House 911 service outage that affected callers in some central Florida counties Thursday afternoon has been resolved, according to Bright House officials.

Callers in Flagler, Orange and Volusia counties were unable to call 911 from their landline phones. Some Seminole County callers were affected by the outage as well.

Volusia County officials sent out a notice around 12:30 p.m. saying they had been notified of the outage.

Around 2 p.m. Volusia County officials said they were able to reroute 911calls, but that the service would not carry the location date that is transmitted through normal circuits.

Around 3:30 p.m. Flagler County officials said that Bright House 911 services had been restored.

A short time later Orange County official sent a tweet saying 911 service has been restored in their county and Volusia County dispatchers said they were being told the 911 service was running normally.

At 3:45 Bright House officials said the problem was resolved and 911 services have been restored to all counties.

Bright House officials said a fiber optic cable was cut in Georgia and that caused the problems in central Florida.
