Brevard school leaders vote to extend mask mandate 30 days

BREVARD COUNTY , Fla. — In a 3-2 vote, Brevard school leaders voted to extend its current mask policy for 30 days.

Citing the continuing decline in COVID-19 cases, the district voted to amend the emergency policy.

Under the current policy, the district requires masks for grades Pre-K through sixth grade with a provision for parents to opt out.

The district also says it will strongly encourage masks for grades seventh through 12th and adults.

Parents can have their children opt out of the policy as long as they provide a note.

This new policy will expire on Nov. 29.
