The transition could come before the end of this school year, but there’s discussion underway about holding a special meeting as soon as next month.
“The resounding information that I got from everyone was that Mark Mullins was a great man, and he is a great man,” School Board Vice Chairwoman Megan Wright said. “I have the utmost respect for him, but that he has not led in a strong manner that has put our district in a good spot.”
Wright said she’s hearing from multiple teachers who are “physically, mentally exhausted.”

“They are being attacked by our students and that’s a direct result of our discipline policy,” Wright said.
School board member Jennifer Jenkins said she still believes Mullins is the man for the job.
“I am 100% concerned about this decision,” she said. “I am not only concerned that they’re removing a man who is the leader of Brevard Public Schools — I am concerned about the effects that will take place after that, leading down to our cabinet to our administrators, eventually to our teachers and bleeding into the business community itself.”
Mullins is expected to present a separation agreement to the School Board chairman for further discussion.
