A traditional costumed extravaganza on Florida’s Space Coast has become one of the world’s most-anticipated Santa-themed gatherings, and this year is even more special!

Since Surfing Santas began in 2009, starting with just 10 surfers, last year we had a record 227 Surfing Santas, which is a sight to behold.

“Surfing Santas has been called the ‘Greatest show on Surf,’” said event organizer George Trosset, who got the craze rolling somewhat innocently on Dec. 24, 2009, when a news photographer captured him wearing a Santa getup while surfing with his family.

“Watching this explode into one of the largest and most-talked-about holiday events has been nothing short of phenomenal.”

The event has raised over $200K for two local non-profit organizations, Grind for Life and the Florida Surf Museum. It has drawn over 10,000 spectators from across the globe and created over 7 billion smiles worldwide.

This year, Santa is adding a unique national non-profit organization called WhoWePlayFor, founded in Cocoa, whose mission is to eliminate preventable Sudden Cardiac Death in the young—a leading cause of death among surfers and in the United States.
