OneWeb Satellites at the Kennedy Space Center’s Exploration Park is implementing temporary furloughs for many of its 200 employees as the company responds to the growing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
OneWeb Satellites is a joint venture between Airbus and OneWeb. OneWeb, which has been building a global communications network to expand internet connectivity around the globe, filed for bankruptcy protection on Friday.

OneWeb Satellites manufactures satellites for OneWeb’s constellation. Some of the 74 satellites already launched were mass-produced on Florida’s space coast.
OneWeb is seeking authorization to support its ongoing operations during the Chapter 11 process, and is pursuing the sale of its business. OneWeb Satellites is still operating with no plans of filing for bankruptcy.
