Pedestrian hit and killed by car in Brevard County, troopers say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly overnight crash involving a pedestrian.

According to troopers, the crash happened at 1 a.m. Saturday morning in Merritt Island.

Troopers said the car was traveling northbound in the right lane on State Road 3 just north of Gator Drive.

The pedestrian was walking northbound on S.R. 3 before he was struck by the vehicle.

According to troopers, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was impaired during the crash, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
