Palm Bay officials make arrest in brutal beating of 19-year-old

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Police have arrested a man they believe beat a 19-year-old unconscious and lying in the middle of the road in Palm Bay.

Officials with the Palm Bay Police Department arrested 22-year-old Michael Hoffa for severely beating Brennan Navarre, who was transported to the hospital by Life Flight after he was found by officials in the area of Wingham Drive on December 31.

At the time of the incident, Navarre was unable to communicate with police on who may have been responsible due to his injuries.

Following a weeks-long investigation and after Navarre’s recovery, police were eventually able to gather evidence from witnesses and persons of interest that led to Hoffa’s arrest.

Hoffa faces charges of attempted murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.

The investigation remains ongoing.
