KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. — NASA officials gave an update Friday on efforts to finally get the Artemis I mission off the launchpad.

NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion Spacecraft are still stilling on the launchpad at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, ready for the agency’s second launch attempt for Artemis I.

NASA said so far everything is on track for Saturday’s planned launch.
Engineers spent the last few days checking out the problems that caused Monday’s scrub.

That includes providing the correct amount of hydrogen to all four engines.
“We’re comfortable with our risk postures,” NASA officials said. “That said, there is no guarantee that we’re going to get off on Saturday, but we’re going to try.”

That two-hour launch window opens at 2:17 p.m. Saturday. The uncrewed mission will last almost 38 days and take Orion 40,000 miles beyond the moon, testing the spacecraft’s capabilities including the re-entry and splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on Oct. 11.
