NASA astronauts talk to students about the future of Florida’s space industry

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida students got a look at what’s in store for Florida’s space industry.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson led a conversation about the future of space in Florida.

Crew members from a space shuttle mission were also in attendance to talk to the students.

“I never dreamed of being an astronaut,” said former NASA administrator Charles Bolden while talking to the students.

Bolden went on to explain just how hard he worked in school to become an astronaut and go on to led the agency.

The event was held at The Plaza Live ahead of an event with the Space Shuttle STS-61C crew and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

Several members of the crew perform in the astronaut band Max Q and will accompany the orchestra in a Saturday evening performance.

Students from the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Bethune-Cookman University and Orange County Public Schools came out for the discussion on space and leadership.
