BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Madison Middle School in Titusville will be closed to students Monday and Tuesday “because of expanded cases of COVID-19 and to prevent further spread of the virus,” Brevard Public Schools announced Friday evening.
Students will receive instruction via a digital method those days, the district said. It will work with families who need devices or WiFi hot spots for stay-at-home online learning.

The district will provide meal packets that consist of two breakfasts and two lunches per students. The meals, along with the devices and hot spots, can be picked up at the school Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
While the school is closed, a custodial team along with the Office of Environmental Health and Safety will conduct a deep cleaning and disinfecting of the school, the district said.
The decision comes just 48-hours after district leaders said they had no plans to close any classrooms.

We’re doing all we can to keep schools open, to keep students and staff in classroom learning,” said Russ Bruhn, Chief Communications Officer for BPS.
COVID-19 testing for students, their siblings and staff will still take place at the school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Parents must accompany minors to get tested.
