Investigation underway after 6-month-old dies in Brevard County, deputies say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A death investigation is underway in Brevard County after deputies found an unresponsive infant inside a Brevard County home.

On Saturday evening, deputies responded to a home on Yarber Avenue in unincorporated Cocoa after receiving a call from the mother that her baby was not breathing.

When deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive 6-month-old, who was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Deputies said the infant was taken to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted.

According to a news release, “The investigation is ongoing as agents are awaiting the final medical results and examining evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the death.”
