BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — An Eau Gallie High School student was taken into custody on Monday after the district said police found a gun in his backpack.
A Brevard County Schools spokesperson said the school was put into “shelter in place” after a possible threat was made on social media on Sunday.

The district said during the investigation into the threat, officers found the gun in the student’s backpack.
“At no time were our students or staff in harm’s way and normal school operations continued through the Shelter in Place which has since been lifted,” the district said in a statement.
