2 men injured in deputy-involved shooting in Cocoa neighborhood

COCOA, Fla. — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 9 on Friday afternoon that two people were injured in a shooting involving a deputy in a Cocoa neighborhood.

Investigators said neither person who was taken to the hospital is a deputy, but they refused to provide any other details.

The shooting happened on Stetson Drive South.

Cynthia Green told Channel 9 that the men died from their injuries. She said one of them was her 18-year-old son, Sincere Pierce.

She said a friend had just picked him up, and they were pulled over shortly thereafter.

Green said she pulled up in her car to try to intervene.

A witness told Channel 9 that it appeared the car the men were in reversed toward the deputies, who shot at them.

Green said she thought they were trying to park the car.

Investigators have not confirmed that the men died.

Relatives said a third man in the car was not shot and is now being questioned.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
