According to a report, Liscum was communicating with one of the students at the school and the student, “became concerned about the content of the conversations and told another student, as well as a trusted teacher.”

The teacher reported the information to school administrators, who then contacted the student’s parent, officials said.

On Monday morning, Brevard Public Schools released the following statement regarding Liscum’s arrest:

“Satellite High teacher Timothy Liscum was arrested Sunday and is accused of trying to meet a student for sexual relations. The teacher is in jail and will not be returning to campus. BPS is beyond shocked by the allegations, but we are proud of the courage shown by the student and the support given by a trusted teacher who helped alert investigators. BPS will continue to work with the Sheriff’s Office as needed to help with the investigation.”

BCSO said investigators are trying to determine if Liscum may have victimized other children.
