Cocoa Jr./Sr. High returns to normal operations following bomb threat

COCOA, Fla. — After a thorough investigation, the Cocoa High School campus has been cleared, Brevard Schools said.

Students and staff are returning to class and school operations are resuming as usual.

“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and we will always take any threat seriously,” a school officials said.

No other details were available.

11:30 a.m. update:

Cocoa Jr./Sr. High School was being evacuated Friday morning after reports of a bomb threat.

School district officials said Cocoa High is being swept by K-9 units and Cocoa Police in cooperation with Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

“As a reminder, any and all school threats will always be taken seriously,” the district said in a tweet. “They are never a joke and they carry severe consequences for those who make them.”

The school district tweeted at 10:50 a.m. that students and staff were being moved to a designated safety zone.

School officials said they are working with law enforcement to sweep the campus and investigate.

Parents are urged not to come to the school at this time.
