Golfview Elementary will remain closed a little longer due to the coronavirus pandemic, county officials said.
The Department of Health and Brevard Public Schools announced Monday that the school’s closure has been extended to Sept. 14 “to allow additional time for those impacted by COVID-19 to make a full recovery and to prevent further spread of the virus,” according to a news release.

All students who opted for brick-and-mortar learning will remain on eLearning for the time being.
District and health officials decided to close the school last week for three days. It was originally expected to open Sept. 8, after the Labor Day weekend.

The district will continue to offer meals for families from 10 a.m. to noon at the school for the rest of the week.
The Department of Health has notified all families of children who were in close contact with individuals who were confirmed to have COVID-19, the district said.
