Boeing Starliner returns to Space Coast with valuable data after not reaching ISS

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Starliner’s maiden flight fell short of its goal of reaching the International Space Station, but the data it brought back could prove to be valuable for the next mission.

After the vehicle landed in New Mexico, NASA engineers were able to download the data off the records.

The International Space Station didn’t reach the ISS due to an issue with a mission-elapsed timer.

The spacecraft will be refurbished for a future mission, while an independent team is tasked with determining the root cause of the issue.

All the mission data will determine if the next Starliner mission will be unmanned or is carrying astronauts to the ISS.
