Brevard County man wins $1 million after lucky lottery scratch-off win

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Brevard County man wins one million dollars in Florida Lottery scratch-off win.

Robert Shipley claimed a $1 million prize from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game after purchasing his winning ticket from the Sunshine Food Mart on West New Haven Avenue in Melbourne.

The 61-year-old West Melbourne man chose to receive his winning as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00.

The store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

The $50 game features a top prize of $25 million, the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game.

Scratch-off games made up 75% of ticket sales and generated more than $1.3 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in the fiscal year 2020-21.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $41 billion to enhance education and has sent more than 917,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
