BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County Deputy Jafet Santiago-Miranda was found dead in a bathtub at his home on Sunday, police said.

Police said they received a 911 call from an unknown caller. According to police, Santiago-Miranda was found unresponsive and not breathing in the tub around 10:50 a.m. on Sunday.
Arriving officers performed CPR on Santiago-Miranda until fire rescue arrived and took over life-saving procedures. Santiago-Miranda was then transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

According to a police incident report, the 35-year-old’s death is listed as suspicious.
Santiago-Miranda was involved in the deadly shooting of two teenage boys in Cocoa in November.

Santiago-Miranda was cleared by prosecutors in the shooting deaths of the teenagers.
