ORLANDO, Fla. — A man's body was found near a retention pond Sunday, the Orlando Police Department said.

The body was found at about 12:30 p.m. by a pond along Cadenza Drive in a subdivision near North Semoran Boulevard and Lake Underhill Road, investigators said.

Police said the body could have been near the pond since Saturday.

"My brother-in-law comes out of nowhere and says, 'Look there's a dead body.'" resident Tatiana Ruiz said. "Just seeing that it's right there kind of makes me uncomfortable, but I really feel bad."

Dennis Marshall said he and his wife found the body Sunday morning while they were walking their dog by the pond.

"I ran out there and we got close to it and it was a body, so we called 911 right away," Marshall said. "The head was face down in the water."

Police said they are waiting on the medical examiner's office to complete an autopsy before releasing an official cause of death, but they believe the man drowned.

The man's identity hasn't been released.
