The ruling comes less than a day after Saget’s family filed a lawsuit against Orange County Sheriff John Mina and the county’s medical examiner to stop any of the records from the investigation into his death from being released to the public, including audio, video or pictures investigators may have taken when working the case.
The lawsuit said it would cause the family to suffer “irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish and emotional distress.”
Brian Bieber, the attorney representing the Saget family, released the following statement after the ruling:
“Earlier this morning, the Judge granted our request for a temporary injunction to protect the Saget family’s privacy, and preclude the disclosure of any photographs or videos of Mr. Saget made by the authorities during their investigation. We are pleased that the Court focused on the human elements here. The Judge was gracious and sensitive to Mr. Saget’s family members, who were in attendance with me via videoconference.”

Saget was found unresponsive in the bed of his room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando on Jan. 9 with no sign of trauma or foul play, according to the sheriff’s office.
A hotel security officer had entered the room after Saget didn’t check out and called 911 when he found him unresponsive.

Deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced Saget dead.
It was later determined that Saget had suffered head trauma the night before he went to sleep.
The lawsuit is against Mina and the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office, who both conducted investigations into Saget’s cause and manner of death.

While the court rules on whether to permanently stop the release of information, Saget’s family sought a “temporary and permanent injunction” that would prevent the sheriff’s office and the medical examiner from releasing any further materials to anyone other than them.
