BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — This afternoon, Blue Origin’s drone ship Jacklyn headed out to sea ahead of the first flight and landing of the company’s New Glenn rocket.

After receiving its FAA launch license, Blue Origin’s New Glenn could liftoff as soon as next week.
Although the company is not yet confirming the exact launch date.

“This is a certification test flight for the U.S. military also. So, it’s real important not just for Blue Origin, not just for NASA, but also for our national security, because they’re going to launch spy satellites on this, as well as Kuiper satellites,” said Dr. Ken Kremer of Space UpClose. “They’re a competing system to Starlink into low-Earth orbit. So, a lot is riding on this mission.”
Blue Origin’s FAA launch license allows orbital missions from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station with first-stage landings on its drone ship for the next five years.
