Bicycle bandit sought in Orlando attempted bank robbery, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — At about 8:33 a.m. Tuesday, a woman walked into a Harbor Community Bank in Orlando and handed a teller a note demanding money, the Orlando Police Department said.

When the teller went to reach for the alarm button, though, the woman got nervous and left, police said.

It did not appear the woman had a weapon and her note did not indicate she did, OPD said.

The would-be robber was described as a black female, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a medium build and very short gray hair.

She was believed to be in her mid-40s, police said.

At the time of the attempted robbery, the woman was wearing a white shirt with khaki shorts and a black purse, OPD said.

The woman abandoned some of her clothing and her purse before fleeing the area on a bicycle, investigators said.

Anyone with information on the woman or attempted bank robbery is asked to contact police.
