Ben Crump threatens to sue DeSantis for rejecting AP African-American Studies course

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Attorney Ben Crump has threatened to sue Gov. Ron DeSantis over the rejection of AP African-American Studies courses in public schools.

Students are also sending a message to the governor and his administration about their decision.

After it was not approved by DeSantis, Seminole County Schools removed it from its initial course selection, the college board is looking to revise the AP African American Studies course, but that is of little comfort to many in the African-American community who believe whatever is offered will not be accurate.

Crump said Wednesday that the governor needs to negotiate with the college board to allow the class to be taught in the classroom, or a historic lawsuit will be coming from students who are denied to learn.
