Beachline reopens in Orange County after fiery crash involving tractor-trailers

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Update:

The roadblock in the area was cleared as of 7:16 p.m.

Emergency crews were trying to clear a crash scene Monday afternoon after a freightliner and a tractor-trailer collided on the Beachline in east Orange County, causing a massive blaze.

The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. in the westbound lanes of State Road 528 near Innovation Way.

Troopers said the driver of a freightliner swerved into the path of someone driving a tractor-trailer to avoid colliding with traffic ahead, causing the vehicles to collide.

Investigators said the impact of the collision caused the vehicles to become engulfed in flames.

The driver of the freightliner was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Drivers are being diverted to State Road 520.

Westbound lanes of State Road 528 remained closed in the area.

The Florida Department of Transportation said it must conduct a safety inspection of the bridge before it can reopen the lanes.

The Central Florida Expressway Authority said it will initiation a repair plan if necessary.
