ORLANDO, Fla. — In Central Florida, several school districts are discussing back-to-school plans, voters face a deadline for registering to vote and Retro ‘Jeopardy!’ episodes are airing on Channel 9 this week.
Here’s what you need to know for the upcoming week:
1. Several districts discuss back-to-school plans in Central Florida
Several counties in Central Florida will discuss back-to-school plans this week.
Families in Orange County have until Friday to fill out the Choice Registration Form.
Leaders said if the registration process is not completed by Friday, the student will be registered to attend their zoned or assigned school utilizing the face-to-face instructional model. Click here to register.
Lake County families have until Monday to tell the district whether they want their kids to have face-to-face learning, online learning or a combination of both. Click here to make a choice.
Families in Seminole County have until Friday at noon to decide which option they want and to register so the district can set up schedules, decide how many teachers will return to the classroom and how many will be needed to teach courses virtually. To make a selection, click here.
Volusia County school leaders are set to vote on the district’s reopening plan Tuesday.

2. Orange County offers free back-to-school immunizations
The Florida Department of Health in Orange County said it will be holding a free back-to-school immunization event for students starting Monday.
Here’s what you need to know: Appointments must be made by calling 407-723-5004.
- Parents or guardians must bring student’s current shot record.
- Parents or guardians must bring child’s birth certificate, passport or other form of government-issued identification.
- One parent or guardian per child.
- Parent or guardian must bring a valid ID.
- For 680 forms child must be present.
- No college vaccines.
- No religious exemptions.
3. Backpack-a-thon virtual school supply drive
9 Family Connection and its partners, Gold Key Roofing, Fun Spot America, Stanley Steemer and The UPS Store, are holding Backpack-a-thon, a virtual school supply drive, which will take the place of the annual Back-to-School Bash.
Online support will allow you to sponsor a student with a backpack and/or school supplies, or even sponsor a classroom of students.

4. Voter registration deadline
Florida voters face a deadline to register to vote in next month’s primary election. The deadline is Monday.
The Aug. 18 ballot will include partisan primary races for several congressional and legislative seats. Additionally, citizens will cast ballots in numerous local contests, many of which are nonpartisan.
In addition to new Florida voters, those wanting to switch their political party affiliation must also make changes by Monday.

5. Orlando mayor, city council to discuss millage rate, budget for next year
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council will hold a workshop and two public hearings Monday to determinate the millage rate and budget for next year.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m.
6. SpaceX targets Monday for ANASIS-II satellite launch
SpaceX said it is targeting Monday for the launch of its ANASIS-II satellite.
The ANASIS-II is a South Korean military communication satellite.
The launch window will be from 5 p.m. to 10:55 p.m., according to the Kennedy Space Center.
7. NASA to discuss Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission
NASA said it will participate in a virtual discussion with Space Foundation on its upcoming Mars 2020 Perseverance rover launch at 1 p.m. Monday.
Officials said the event will stream on NASA Television and the agency’s website.
The Mars 2020 mission is scheduled to launch from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Thursday, July 30 at 7:50 a.m. It will land at Jezero Crater on Mars on Feb. 18, 2021.
8. Flagler Beach firefighters, police officers to give out free face masks to public
The Flagler Beach Fire Department and the Flagler Beach Police Department said they will be providing free face masks to the public Saturday.
The location of the event is Wickline Park in Flagler Beach. It will be a drive-up service for those wanting a free face mask.
Officials said the face masks come five to a bag and each person in the car will receive one bag while supplies last.
Organizers said if you live in Flagler Beach, Flagler County, Beverly Beach, the Hammock or Ormond by the Sea to please stop by.
9. Retro ‘Jeopardy!’ episodes begin this week on Channel 9
“Jeopardy!” is going retro on Channel 9 over the next month.
All this week on Channel 9, “Jeopardy!” will air five of its best and most exciting shows from the 1980s, including the series premiere that originally aired Sept. 10, 1984. The first “super-champion,” the first record-setting contestant and more will also re-air.
“Jeopardy!” airs on Channel 9 at 7 p.m. daily.
