Schools across the region are deciding when to return to class amid the COVID-19 pandemic. And for some, that means starting later than originally scheduled.
Here’s a county breakdown on when schools in Central Florida are expected to resume classes for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, pending state approval:
Orange County
Face-to-face learning will follow for students who signed up for the option on Aug. 21.
Practice for fall athletics and marching band in Orange County Public Schools, which was set to begin Monday, have been postponed until further notice.
Osceola County
Osceola County Schools has approved postponing the start of its 2020-2021 school year by two weeks, to Aug. 24. Staff is set to return to work on Aug. 10.

Seminole County
Earlier this month, Seminole County Public Schools approved a plan for the upcoming school year, which includes starting the school year on Aug. 17.
Brevard County
Brevard County Schools has postponed its first day of class to Aug. 24. Read more here.
Volusia County
Volusia County Schools voted to push the start of the school year from Aug. 17 to Aug. 31.

Marion County
The Marion County School Board approved a calendar that sets the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 24, for both traditional in-class learning and MCPSonline.
The district said masks will be required in places where social distancing cannot happen including in hallways, common areas and on the school bus.

Polk County
Polk County has pushed its start date back to Aug. 24.
Sumter County
Sumter County schools plans to reopen Aug. 24 with three learning options available for students. Click here for more information.
Flagler County
Flagler County school leaders announced they are pushing back the start date for students to Aug. 24. School was originally supposed to start Aug. 10.
Lake County
Lake County Schools has approved a plan for students to return to class on Aug. 24, and teachers to return on Aug. 10. The district has four options for families and students that you can find here. The deadline to choose an option is July 29.
