That includes a launch readiness review.

Today, SpaceX completed the static fire test of its Falcon 9 rocket. The crew has already completed a dry dress run rehearsal of the pad.

As long as the launch readiness review goes according to plan, teams will get some sleep ahead of Friday’s 3:49 a.m. launch.

The international crew of astronauts and a cosmonaut that will launch to the International Space Station includes: NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, European astronaut Andreas Mogensen, Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and Russian cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov.

Crew-7 represents the seventh crew rotation mission with SpaceX to the ISS. It’s also the third crewed launch of the year from Florida’s Space Coast.

This commercial crew mission is also coming with some of its very own firsts.

“We’ve got three international partners, which we’ve never done before, which is exciting to do,” said Brian Berry, mission manager for NASA’s Commercial Crew program. “We’ve got the booster returning back to landing zone one after launch, which is new for Commercial Crew program.”

Wakata has flown on multiple missions to the ISS, most recently as a mission specialist for Crew-5.

“By doing this in an international manner, we create international partnerships that will take us beyond the low earth orbit to the moon,” Wakata said.

The research for Crew-7 includes a study of human response to different spaceflight durations as part of their six-month science mission.

NASA said there will roughly be a five-day hand-off between Crew-7 and Crew-6 before the latter splashes down off the Florida coast.
