LAKE MARY, Fla. — A gunman and an innocent bystander are dead after a shooting at the Colonial Town Park Shopping Plaza early Sunday, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday following an argument in a parking lot in Lake Mary, according to deputies.

Witnesses told deputies several restaurant customers got into an argument and were asked to leave. After leaving the restaurant, the situation escalated in the parking lot.

Deputies say Victor Emanuel Brown, 35, of Orlando, fired one round from his handgun. That round struck an innocent bystander, 28-year-old Daniel Strada of Lake Mary, who was across the parking lot. Strada later died from his injuries.

Fearing for his life, Jorge Vega-Rosado, 26, of Orange City, then pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds, hitting and killing Brown, deputies said.

"I bring my family out here on the weekend sometimes, so it's pretty scary," said Josh Smith, who works nearby. "It's a really nice place. It's usually quiet. You wouldn't think a shooting would happen."

Strada's father told Channel 9 that he was out to enjoy a soccer game with a friend when he was shot.

Seminole County deputies said that after consulting with the State Attorney's Office, Vega-Rosado will not be charged because he acted in self-defense.
