ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Problems with the state’s unemployment system continue to crop up as people try to file.
An Altamonte Springs man said he was receiving his checks regularly, but the latest check didn’t come on time.
Kraig Koelsch is one of the half million Floridians on unemployment, but since Friday, he’s been working full time on his laptop trying to figure out why he’s having issues with getting his unemployment check.

At first the check was late. Then he had issues with how much the check was for.
“So my first check was $247. That’s the max after taxes. Then, I had the two-week check. This time it should be coming every two weeks and it didn’t come,” Koelsch said.
Koelsch said he did not log on and report this week because Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended the biweekly reporting requirement.
“I think it’s great they are trying to step things up, but I think it’s causing another bottleneck in the system,” Koelsch said.
Channel 9’s Jeff Levkulich emailed the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity about Koelsch’s issue.
A spokesperson said they had not heard of the issue before but asked for more information to get Koelsch’s case into the hands of the reemployment assistance team.
Koelsch is still waiting to hear back from a member of the team.
