Alpha Phi Alpha pulls out of hosting convention in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Another convention set to bring millions of tourism dollars to Orange County is taking their business elsewhere.

The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity announced they will move their 2025 convention to another city.

The decision comes after the controversial chances to the state’s African American history curriculum.

Fraternity leaders said the convention was projected to bring in an estimated $4.6 million.

County officials said while these conventions are estimated to bring in millions of dollars, adding up lodging, food and gas makes those numbers get even higher and lead to an impact on the community.
