ORLANDO, Fla. — Travel experts say drivers’ wallets will be a little leaner for the upcoming holiday weekend, thanks to rising fuel prices.

AAA reported Monday that a gallon of gas in Florida jumped 10 cents in just the past week, pushing the state’s average to $3.36 per gallon.

That means fuel in the Sunshine State will be at an 8-year high this Thanksgiving travel season.
In Orlando, drivers might feel slightly less pain at the pump, where a gallon of gas averages $3.34.

To put things in perspective, AAA estimates that you’ll pay about $50 to fill up your 15-gallon tank.
That’s $13 more than what drivers paid during Thanksgiving in 2019, before the pandemic took hold.

One possible silver lining to look for on your holiday travel horizon -- expect a slight drop in the cost of fuel later this week, according to AAA.
