ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Altamonte Springs police are investigating after they said 70 vehicles were burglarized in different areas of the city.
Police responded to the Lotus Landing Apartments in the 600 block of Coral Glen Loop about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
A witness told deputies that he saw two people breaking into vehicles by smashing the front windows.
Police said they spotted a black Kia leaving the area, but the people inside were able to flee from the vehicle and were not apprehended.
Vehicles were also targeted at a hotel and several other apartment complexes, including Ravens Crossings, The Lofts at Uptown, Allora at Lake Lotus and Lotus Landing.
There were also 25 car break-ins at a Maitland apartment complex and 50 at Florida Hospital. There were another 10 on the campus of Orlando Health over the weekend.

Officer Evelyn Estevez said it’s not known if the burglaries are connected.
Miguel Algarin woke up to find his car window smashed in and spent his morning sweeping up glass.
“Angry at this point because we have to dish out money to replace the windows,” said Algarin.
Linda Jenkins said she was walking her dog when she saw a man searching through cars. She said she tried to scare them off.
“These people work too hard for people to come out here and break in their cars and steal their stuff,” said Jenkins.
Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call police.
