64-year-old pedestrian killed while crossing Orange County road, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A pedestrian has died after an Orange County crash on Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 7:20 p.m.

According to a news release, a gold Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling southbound on state Road 436 and approached Hanging Moss Road.

Investigators said a pedestrian was also traveling west in the marked crossroad on state Road 436 at Hanging Moss Road.

The Mercury driver tried to keep going south on state Road 436, while the pedestrian was walking across the southbound lanes.

FHP said the car collided with the pedestrian, pushing the pedestrian onto the shoulder of the road.

The pedestrian, a 64-year-old Orlando man, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital around 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
