Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run crash in Orange County, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 63-year-old man has died after a hit-and-run crash in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened around 12:10 a.m Saturday.

According to a news release, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on North Orange Blossom Trail near Rosamond Drive.

Troopers said the man was walking east and then entered the northbound lanes of OBT, not in a marked crosswalk.

Investigators said the truck’s right-side mirror hit the pedestrian, and the pickup truck kept driving while the pedestrian was still on the road.

A second car, a Toyota Tacoma, was traveling northbound on OBT in the inside lane.

The 76-year-old Toyota Driver noticed the man lying on the road and tried to swerve to avoid him but then hit him.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that the first car was either a white or silver Chevy Silverado but could not provide any other information about the driver or the car.
