MIMS, Fla. — A 6-year-old girl is dead after a house fire broke out before 1 a.m. Friday and fully engulfed a mobile home in Mims, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
A Red Cross representative said they are assisting a family that was misplaced due to the fire. They said that includes family members who were visiting from out of town when the fire broke out and five people who were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Investigators said they are still working to determine a cause of the fire, which happened off Brockett Road.

Shirley Rock said the girl who was killed was her great niece.
"She was such a beautiful girl," Rock said.
Rock said she watched from her yard across the street as her brother's house burned.
"I came outside and I saw all this commotion going on outside and my brother's house is completely on fire," Rock said.
Neighbor Mike Miller said he called 911 to report the fire just before 12:30 a.m. He said he pulled out his hose and did whatever he could to help firefighters battle the blaze.
"There's just a lot of commotion and chaos and hollering and screaming. There was a kid inside. So they were breaking windows out, and they asked me to break the window out over here," Miller said.
Miller said he was shaken by what he'd witnessed Friday morning.
"I had tears a couple of times ... Especially when they just took the body out ... It's hard," he said.
Investigators said two other people inside the home at the time of the blaze suffered serious injuries. They said the girl was found dead in a room.
