The remaining candidates will be invited for in-person interviews with the school board next week, with the hopes of making a final selection in May.
“We selected four candidates, quality candidates from across the state of Florida,” Brevard Public Schools Board Chair Matt Susin said. “One of the things that we noticed is that of the four, three are in the top four of multiple other districts, so as a school board, we decided to move quickly to select.”
The School Board has selected the finalists for the Superintendent position.

Susin says the four finalists will be brought in for one-on-one interviews with the other board members.
“In-between the time when they’re not being interviewed, they’re going to be with community leaders, taking them places, getting them to know the area, feeling them out. Then, those community leaders are going to give us their feedback also,” Susin said.

The search for a new superintendent began almost immediately after the departure of former superintendent Mark Mullins back in December.
The board appointed an interim superintendent who was later placed on paid leave.
Now, Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Sue Hann is the Acting Superintendent until the board completes their search.
“I’m looking for someone who is a leader people can follow, that is really collaborative, who is trusted, who can build that trust in our community, because I believe it is desperately needed,” school board member Katye Campbell said.

The school board interviews will be held April 27 beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will be broadcast on the Brevard Public Schools YouTube and cable channels.
The school board is scheduled to make a final decision on the next Superintendent during a meeting on May 9.
